‘Oh Really, O’Reilly?’
Information item by Jayme Evans (4/19/10)

Hey Bill, On the April 15th, 2010 broadcast of the O’Reilly Factor, you played a little too fast and loose with the truth when discussing the case of Lt. Col Terry Lakin. Lakin, whom we both recall refused orders to deploy to Afghanistan, cited lingering doubts over the constitutionality of Barack Obama’s presidency and by extension, the legality of his orders to deploy. Before we get started, a word of advice: You should really skip the “Humble Correspondent” bit, your ego is enormous and dwarfed only by Obama’s.

‘Did You Know We Accidentally Won WWII?’
War item by Malcolm T. Hedges (4/18/10)

The European theater was a Charlie Foxtrot(1) and so it was also in the Asian theater.

Tea-party movement at a crossroads
TEA Parties item by Offsite (4/18/10)

The tea-party movement is now one year old, and the left wing of American politics is perplexed. Why don’t these people appreciate what Obama has done for them? Obama himself appears detached and unconcerned when he tries to belittle the protesters: “They should be thanking me for lowering their taxes.” Really?

Dems To Propose Amnesty for Illegal Aliens… AGAIN!
  Immigration item by J. D. Longstreet (4/17/10)

Yes, it IS a crime to break into the US by stealing across the border!  Yet, millions have done it and continue to do it even as this scribe taps out these few words on the keyboard.

The Freedom to Speak (to Yourself)
Information Police item by Don Watkins (4/17/10)

WASHINGTON--"Stanley Fish, a self-confessed opponent of free speech, reports on a meeting of First Amendment scholars. It provides some fascinating insights into how these scholars think about free speech issues,” writes Don Watkins, an analyst with the Ayn Rand Center.

Maureen Dowd: A Degraded State of Intelligent Discourse
Bird-Brain Flu item by Warner Todd Huston (4/17/10)

I don’t write about Maureen Dowd simply because she rarely offers anything worthy of serious, intellectual discussion. I don’t claim any sort of high intellect for myself, of course, and don’t necessarily claim to be able to thoroughly judge the work of the deepest of thinkers but Dowd’s work is like the old saying about pornography in as much as when it comes to stupid prattle I know it when I see it.

Obama’s Pie in the Sky
Foreign policy item by Ted Belman (4/17/10)

There is no solution to the final status issues of Jerusalem, borders and refugees that both sides will agree to. Nevertheless President Obama is committed to forcing an agreement.

America Needs To Spend Some Time In Rehab
The Republic item by Thomas D. Segel (4/17/10)

Harlingen, Texas, April 2010:  The political greed and over indulgences of those who now sit in our nation’s seats of power have created an almost unrecoverable sickness across this land.  It will now require serious pain on the part of its citizenry, if we are to restore the health of America.  The unanswered question at this hour is...are we willing to accept the actions all of us know are the only way we can rebuilt the vitality of the nation?

CAIR Defending Radical Imam Killed by FBI
National Security item by Offsite (4/10/10)

The Michigan-based separatist movement lured followers with an explosive mixture of radical religious interpretation and a deep hostility toward government, especially law enforcement. It trained in the use of weapons and talked of killing police officers.

Send the National Guard to the Border
National Security item by Armand C. Hale (4/7/10)

Following the brutal killing of Arizona rancher Robert Krentz (presumably by illegal aliens), New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson has decided to send New Mexico National Guardsmen to help secure New Mexico’s stretch of the U.S. - Mexico border.

America’s Socialist Congress Using Stalinist Tactics
  Congress item by J. D. Longstreet (4/7/10)

America’s new Socialist Congress is flexing its Stalinist muscles and scooping up the leadership of a number of America’s business giants and forcing them to Washington to an inquisition, which is designed to do two things.  One:  To make an example of these chosen corporations—and two: To put the fear of God —well, allow me rephrase that – to put the fear of the new Soviet-style socialist government into all Americans. The message is:  keep your mouth shut and do not question the Obama Regime’s socialist machinations or those of the socialist/democrat congress.

Doing the Socialists’ bidding
  Demercrats item by Offsite (4/7/10)

People who follow the teaching of Buddha are called Buddhists. People who follow the teaching of Christ are called Christians. People who follow the teaching of Karl Marx are called Marxists, except in the United States, where they prefer to be called Democrats.

  ObamaNation item by Offsite (4/4/10)

Rush Limbaugh is striking back at President Barack Obama.

Slouching Lower Than Gomorrah with Marijuana
Drugs item by Kevin Roeten (4/4/10)

So many say the decriminalization of marijuana is necessary, and the war on drugs is a failure which hasn’t achieved anything. The impression that government policy on cannabis was ignorant and irrational, gave rise to 14 states allowing sick people access to marijuana. The idea caught on in California, as well as Alaska, Maine, Michigan, and Montana. In 2009, approximately 75% of Americans thought doctors should be able to prescribe cannabis. But new evidence changed things.  Even Obama made his position crystal clear by declaring cannabis use “entirely appropriate”, and for physicians to prescribe cannabis if needed.

A Matter of Heart
Health Care item by Thomas D. Segel (4/1/10)

Harlingen, Texas, April 1, 2010:  Our newspapers, televisions, radios and the Internet have continued to provide us with assorted non-stop negative and positive narrative on healthcare for months.  It has been examined from various political vantage points; it has been given humanistic spin; it has been sliced and diced.  There is little about healthcare or health insurance reform that has not been examined.

Health Care Debate Leads to Talk of Impeachment
The Republic item by Kevin Price (4/1/10)

The health care debate has been a spectacle to watch. Democrat members of Congress that are opposed to the legislation are being threatened by the President and by leaders of the Senate and the House. Some of it is subtle, like President Obama telling members of his party that he has no plans to campaign for them unless they vote for the health care bill. These days, in light of the incredible low he is experiencing in the polls, that is probably good news for Democrats. Other threats are less subtle, including some being warned if they do not vote for the bill, they are going to face well funded primary challenges. The arm twisting that members are experiencing is unprecedented and the tactics being used by Democrat leaders is being described by some as unconstitutional.

The Mainstream Media hiding in plain sight
MSM item by David Coughlin (4/1/10)

The Democrat political template is very predictable and depends on a complicit liberal Mainstream Media (MSM) to cover up and obfuscate for shortcomings in policy execution.  The Democrat political strategy to inundate, exaggerate, obfuscate, and inoculate policies is evident in domestic policy initiatives as well as foreign policy efforts.  The process begins with a classic Cloward-Piven strategy to overwhelm the public with “crisis” after “crisis” that only Democrats can successfully address.

‘Obama To Take Over Control of College Textbooks?’
EdukShun item by Warner Todd Huston (4/1/10)

Candace de Russy over at National Review posted an alarming example(1) of Obama power grab. Or perhaps more precisely it’s yet ‘another’ alarming example of an Obama power grab. This time Obama apparently is setting the table to take control of what is printed in our nation’s college textbooks.

Pray Obama fails
  ObamaNation item by Offsite (3/9/10)

President Barack Obama obviously has no qualms about slandering people or industries that interfere with his agenda. In the same creepy manner he defamed the Cambridge Police Department without benefit of the facts, he is scapegoating the insurance companies based on his distorted version of facts.

Love And Hate Of America
ObamaNation item by Leon A. Weinstein (3/8/10)

It is my personal opinion that President Obama and his inner circle hate America. I am not talking about landscapes and folk songs. Those they might love. But they dislike what America represents and has been for the last two centuries. I love in America exactly what Obama hates. In other words Obama hates MY America. I also do not like some things here, but I would emigrate here even if the weather everywhere in this country was like in Chicago. I emigrated to and loved this country because this country cherishes each individual more than it cherishes the state. It is quite difficult to understand for Europeans, Asians or Africans who grew to believe that a beehive is more important than a single bee. In America the bee is more important. I love this country because it didn’t demand anything from me. Because I didn’t have to sing hymns to any leader or movement or fate. Because words “do not ask what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country” were wonderful colorful and inspiring… words. I have heard same words from the Soviet Leaders and every socialist organizer that ever was.

An unusually bad liar
  ObamaNation item by Offsite (2/2/10)

Former Sen. Bob Kerrey famously said that Bill Clinton was “an unusually good liar. Unusually good.” Well, then, President Barack Obama is an unusually bad liar. Unusually bad.

Politicians in Wonderland
  Politics item by Offsite (2/2/10)

There was a recent flap because three different members of the Obama administration, on three different Sunday television talk shows, gave three widely differing estimates of how many jobs the president has created.
