Another Time Mag. McCain Computer Smear
Elections item by Warner Todd Huston (8/21/08)

I thought this whole McCain as Computer illiterate meme had finally faded, but Time Magazine comes to the rescue of this pointless attack once again. The last time we saw this attack it was by the chief geek over at PCmag.com, Lance Ulanoff(1). This time it is Lev Grossman from Time Magazine in one titled “The Off-Line American(2).” Painting McCain as “behind the times” and “way behind” Grossman also takes the occasion to link McCain with “recently indicted Alaska Senator Ted Stevens.” Lots of slams yet much ado about nothing. But, anything to try to make McCain look bad, of course.

Liberals Hold Off China in Propaganda All-Around
Progressivism item by Lee Culpepper (8/19/08)

Spanning the globe to bring you a constant variety of pretense! The make-believe thrills of socialism...and forsaken agony of actual consequences! The human drama of presumptuous politics! This is LIB’s Wide World of Programming!

‘Can Senator Obama Talk Us Out of This One?’
Elections item by Thomas E. Brewton (8/19/08)

Talk, they say, is cheap.  And generally worth no more than it costs, when confronting international military aggression.

Feds Nail 10,000 Violent Gang Members in the US
Crime item by Jim Kouri (8/10/08)

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, working in conjunction with federal, state and local law enforcement partners across the United States, have arrested the 10,000th gang member under operation Community Shield, according to a report submitted to officials of the National Association of Chiefs of Police.

How NOT to Have Electricity
GreeenIsm item by Alan Caruba (8/10/08)

Electricity is so commonplace that no one gives any thought to not having access to it. Few give any consideration to how it is generated, but we are now being inundated with the most virulent nonsense about how wind or solar power is “clean” and practically “free.” Every week there’s some new proposal to cover the nation with wind farms and solar panels.

Islamists Rule American Publishing Industry
Islam item by Warner Todd Huston (8/8/08)

America is the land of liberty. It is the place where political expression is protected by law and custom. It is the freest nation on Earth… unless, of course, you wish to talk about Islam. Then, unless you bow and scrape, unless you assert its supposed peacefulness, unless you bend over backwards to make sure that you don’t “offend” Islamists, you will be shut down. At least this is true if you wish to publish a book about Islam, it appears.

DNC “New” Oil AD Campaign A False Farce
Energy item by Jack L. Key (8/8/08)

The DNC has launched a “new” ad campaign against Republican John McCain, and is making a lot of false claims.(1)

Obama Is Europe’s “Vision” For America
Elections item by Christopher G. Adamo (8/7/08)

Fawning over Barack Obama as they did during his recent overseas campaign swing, those cheering multitudes of Europeans said much more about themselves than they did about either Illinois Senator and Democrat presidential candidate or the best course to chart for the future of the United States. Somewhat surprisingly, and despite all of the dutiful and harmonious consensus of Obama’s lackeys in the American media, his campaign gained little credibility from the venture.

America’s Political Gag Reflex
Elections item by Lee Culpepper (8/7/08)

With Obama’s lead in the polls disappearing, a steady stream of doubt is now being poured over Obama’s nervous and inverted campaign. The great orator appears ready to crack. Soon, Obama could be flip-flopping so swiftly that the infamous 90 seconds required to break someone through waterboarding will seem like eternity. If swearing to be a born-again conservative would make him president, Obama would find a way to deliver the announcement and still pacify his government-dependent audience.

A Great Lakes Eco ‘Catastrophe’ That ISN’T
GreeenIsm item by Warner Todd Huston (8/3/08)

The Chicago Tribune posted a story(1) in the July 30 edition that highlights the often absurd hyperbole all too common in the language of environmentalists and eco-watchers. The story detailed the findings of scientists studying Lake Michigan and the ecology of the Great Lakes, one of them saying it is in “catastrophic” shape. Native fish and vegetation are being crowded out by new species and the “Great Lakes are at a tipping point” the Trib warns. It’s all presented as some major disaster that should alarm us all, as if Mother Nature is being ruined, presumably by man.

Outrageous Reaction to Profits
Progressivism item by Thomas E. Brewton (8/3/08)

ExxonMobil’s quarterly report, taken out of perspective, predictably evoked screams of outrage from liberal-progressives and from the general public.

US Arctic Oil May be LOST to the UN
Energy item by Alan Caruba (8/3/08)

“The Arctic may hold 90 billion barrels of oil, more than all the known reserves of Nigeria, Kazakhstan, and Mexico combined, and enough to supply U.S. demand for 12 years.” One would have thought Joe Carroll’s Bloomberg News report would have evoked some interest by the public and other media outlets. Instead, news of the U.S. Geological Survey was greeted mostly by a giant collective yawn.

The Greens are Going Crazy
GreeenIsm item by Alan Caruba (7/27/08)

It’s hard to ignore the fact that the Greens are going crazy, not just in the United States, but around the world. They are increasingly frantic over the opposition being voiced against global warming, one of the greatest hoaxes in modern history.

Global Warming Challenged by New Data and Failed Predictions
Global Warming item by Mary Mostert (7/20/08)

The American Physical Society (APS), representing over 50,000 physicists, has re-opened the discussion of the issue of global warming. In 2007 the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concluded that more than half of the “Global warming” of the past 50 years (IPCC, 2007) had been caused by CO2 emissions from humans and that human activity would cause further rapid warming . That conclusion is now being challenged by new data and the failure of old data to predict what has actually happened to the climate since 2001.

Divisive Politics
Elections item by Thomas E. Brewton (7/5/08)

Senator Obama’s campaign is based upon a fantasy: his claimed ability to transcend politics-as-usual and thereby to unite the nation for a common purpose.

The Devil You Know Or The Devil You Know
Elections item by J.J. Jackson (7/5/08)

Well, here are your choices in November - a devil or a devil. Maybe the choice could be made easier. After all the saying goes, “Better the devil you know than the devil you don’t know.” Ok, well the only problem with that philosophy is that we “know” both of them.

On Promises Kept, Rank Our Government ‘Unsatisfactory’
Big Brother item by Thomas D. Segel (6/29/08)

Harlingen, Texas, June 26, 2008:  I really have a great amount of pity for those millions of poor souls who have such undying faith in the promises made by any politician, particularly those who hold national offices.  Those who swallow this “Alice in Wonderland” rhetoric will suffer the deepest cuts of all when they step back through the looking glass and view reality for the first time.

Nazism, Marxism and Islam
Politics item by Bruce Walker (6/22/08)

There is an invidious desire by those on the atheist Left to pretend that Hitler and the Nazis were some sort of rogue Christians and that many devout Christians accepted the Nazis and Hitler as protectors against Bolshevism and Jews.  Those who wish to so this often note that Hitler made references to the Almighty or to Providence in his speeches, invoking the name of God.  This had nothing to do with Christianity and everything to do with his own religious beliefs, which were anything but Christian.

Obama Would Be A Clinton Third Term
Elections item by Christopher G. Adamo (6/19/08)

Forget about the rancor of the Democrat Primary season. That is all history now. In truth, the heated rivalry between the two candidates was hardly an indicator of any philosophical or moral differences between them, but only a strident argument about which liberal “messiah” deserved to be president. Even the fierceness of their efforts was itself a reflection of comparable components of raw ambition that each possesses.

‘The (Liberal) Media Empire Strikes Back?’
MSM item by Jack L. Key (6/19/08)

Well, here we go again. It’s big-time politics. The liberal media’s finest hour! Just the look and sound of the word “politics” grates on me.  So does the word “freedom” of a runaway liberal press. Has any other “freedom” or “right” of America’s Constitution ever been so abused?

Sex, Lies, and Datatapes of the Partner Abuse Industry
Femi-Nazis item by Carey Roberts (6/19/08)

The domestic violence industry is reeling from a recent series of high-profile scandals, leaving abuse workers to wonder how things could have possibly gone so wrong.

Democrats Continue to Make Fools of Themselves
Demercrats item by JB Williams (6/19/08)

Allow me to begin by stating for the record that I realize how politically incorrect it is to single out a specific group of people and acknowledge their overtly foolish behaviors. But it seems we have reached a moment of insanity, when enough really should be enough!

‘Will the Greens Sacrifice Their Own ‘Sacred Cows’?’
GreeenIsm item by Dennis T. Avery (6/14/08)

Wired Magazine has published a list of “Green sacred cows” it says must be sacrificed to save the planet. Wired’s founding editor, Kevin Kelly, formerly edited the Whole Earth Catalog, so the magazine has credentials for rethinking what it means to be Green.

‘Are American Voters as Stupid As Democrats Bank On?’
Elections item by JB Williams (6/14/08)

I’d love to be able to say that American voters are far too intelligent to ever fall for the socialist drivel currently peddled by the New Democrat Party, aka - the Democratic Socialists of America. But that would be a lie…

Dismantling the USA Part I:  The Beginnings
Progressivism item by Sher Zieve (6/13/08)

Today’s US Supreme Court ruling advising the country and the world that foreign terrorists now essentially are afforded the same rights to have their cases tried in the US federal court system and pounds another nail into the coffin of the USA, prompted me - again - towards the realization that today’s students haven’t a clue as to how and why the United States of America now finds itself in the current predicament that presages its end.  Leftist academia has only taught them to hate their country.  But, I do not only blame the leftist faction for its unrelenting indoctrination of Communist ‘principles’ calling for the destruction of freedom and liberty into the minds of children and young adults.  I also blame our faux conservative elected officials for allowing said indoctrination to go unchecked for decades.  And now it’s too late.  This was probably our first - and greatest - mistake.
